Demonstrating Active Network Adaptability in Wireless Networks

چکیده
The IP-based Internet, although wildly successful, is limited in its ability to evolve and adapt, in particular at the network layer. For example, after almost a decade, IP multicast is still not widely available, although applications that might take advantage of its functionality are popular. Mobile/wireless networking is an important emerging area in which adaptivity and evolvability is likely to be especially important due to the widely varying nature of the underlaying communication channels themselves, as well as the rapidly improving understanding of key protocols. We believe that active networking (AN) enables valuable adaptivity that existing technologies currently lack. This is because AN enables, highly flexible packet functionality, on-the-fly protocol deployment, even on a packet-by-packet granularity, and cost-effective network expansion. Because adaptivity and evolvability is at a premium, we have chosen to test our belief in this domain using two case studies: ad hoc routing and TCP over wireless. In our work, we demonstrate AN’s adaptivity by developing a series of designs, simulation studies, and working prototypes. Ad hoc networks are infrastructureless networks in which hosts are typically mobile and must act as routers. Mobility makes routing hard because the state of links changes frequently and routing heterogeneity is likely. In our study, we show how AN can be used to adapt routing to host mobility and traffic activity. We achieve this adaptivity using remote evaluation of active packets, which are good at

Improvement of Coverage Algorithm in WSN in Terms of Sensor Numbers and Power Amount
Wireless sensor networks(WSN) have unique properties that distinguished them from other wireless networks and have special challenges. Not-chargeable, not-changeable and limited power supplies of sensor nodes is the most important challenge of this networks, and if the power supply of node expired, a part of data maybe lost. Because of the importance of covers in wireless sensors, in this work ...

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...
متن کاملAsymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks
This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...

Wireless sensor networks are often located in areas where access to them is difficult or dangerous. Today, in wireless sensor networks, cluster-based routing protocols by dividing sensor nodes into distinct clusters and selecting local head-clusters to combine and send information of each cluster to the base station and balanced energy consumption by network nodes, get the best performance ...
